The Optical Society's (OSA) mission is to promote the generation, application and archiving of knowledge in optics and photonics and to disseminate this knowledge worldwide. The purposes of the Society are scientific, technical and educational. OSA's commitment to excellence and long-term learning is the driving force behind all its initiatives.

About The Chapter
OSA Student Chapter in Koç University aims to represent all Science students at Koç University. Even though the already existing groups are mainly related to Physics and Optics, Science Society is going to have groups related to Chemistry and Mathematics in time. The current goals of the Society is as follows:
- to increase and disseminate students' interests in the highly developing and improving technology
- to organize seminars and conferences about the controversial topics in the field of Optics and Physics
- to promote communication between the Society and the faculty members and the related industrial areas
- to organize scientific projects in order to have students get used to laboratory equipments
