Title: On 3-uniform Hypergraphs Without a Cycle of a Given Length  

 

Abstract: We study the maximum number of hyperedges in a 3-uniform hypergraph on n vertices that does not contain a Berge cycle of a given length. In particular we prove that the upper bound for C2k+1-free hypergraphs is of the order O(k2n1+1/k), improving the upper bound of Györi and Lemons by a factor of θ(k2). Similar bounds are shown for linear hypergraphs. This is joint work with Zoltan Füredi.

 

Speaker's Brief Biography: Lale Özkahya has received her PhD from Department of Mathematics at University of Illinois under the supervision of Zoltan Füredi. Before coming to Hacettepe University, she has spent one year as a postdoctoral researcher at Iowa State University. Currently, she is a faculty member at Department of Computer Engineering in Hacettepe University. Her research interests are extremal graph theory and its applications.
